Pierre de Gaillande‘s latest musical venture, is a translation of the lyrics of iconic French poet/singer Georges Brassens into English. Two volumes of the songs, translated and performed by de Gaillande, have been released on Barbes Records, and Vermillion Music, along with an illustrated folio of the translated poems published by Ugly Duckling Presse. De Gaillande performs these songs with a talented group of musicians at venues in the U.S.A. and abroad to great acclaim.
With , Pierre has undertaken a daunting task; to translate a collection of the Brassens oeuvre, strictly adhering to the rhyme scheme, meter, and meaning of the original texts, while preserving their musicality and lyricism in English.Brassens has been translated into many languages worldwide, yet attempts to do so into English have fallen short. This project is an opportunity for the Anglophone world to discover the work of this amazing songwriter, poet, and individual.
