Organoid - 2022, work on paper by Camille de Galbert

The Invisible Dog Art Center is thrilled to present a performance by Thierry Thieû Niang, created during a summer workshop in August as part of Albertine Dance Season and with the support from Villa Albertine

French choreographer Thierry Thieû Niang is creating a mesmerizing dance performance inspired by the artwork of visual artist Camille de Galbert. Both Niang's choreography and Galbert's artwork share a profound exploration of movement and materiality.

For two weeks Niang held workshops with non professional dancers of all ages. Introducing them to a fusion of contemporary dance techniques and Thierry's signature movement vocabulary. Concluding with eight participants who will join him in this performance.

Niang's choreography brings Galbert's artwork to life through dynamic dance movements. He captures the textures, forms, and gestures depicted in Galbert's pieces, translating them into captivating performances on stage. The choreography reflects the inherent movement captured in Galbert's visual art.

Galbert's artwork, known for its meticulous craftsmanship, embodies a sense of frozen motion. The delicate lines, flowing shapes, and subtle gestures evoke a visual language of movement. Niang amplifies this inherent movement, allowing it to unfold and evolve through the dancers' performances.

Through their collaboration, Niang and Galbert celebrate the beauty of movement in its various forms. The performance merges visual art and dance, immersing the audience in a multisensory experience where movement and materiality harmoniously intertwine. It promises to be a mesmerizing journey into the transformative power of movement and artistic expression.
