Portrayed...

the-invisible-dog-portrayed.jpeg

Portrayed is about twins in their twenties, Mary and Trevor, who have literally done nothing in their lives, despite their quest for immortality and their undying determination to be grand at something. All the while, their younger sister Sarah attempts to coax them out of their current stagnant way of life. Holland’s work is an absurd exploration of the nature of choice, time, and how expectations clash with reality.

The production will be heavily influenced by both the American Style of theater and the French style. The two unique takes on the same subject and play will be combined to showcase both styles and ultimately strengthen the end result. Rest assured, neither the French nor American contributions will suffer from a lack of authenticity with producer and dual Brooklyn and Paris resident Marion Attal and native Texan/Director, Michael Petranek at the helm.

Live music will underscore both versions of Portrayed nightly, with original music tailored perfectly to accompany both the off-beat nature of the show as well as to simultaneously combine and accentuate the differences and similarities between both the French and American styles of theatre.
