THE INVISIBLE DOG ANNUAL FUNDRAISER
SUPPORT THE 18TH SEASON OF YOUR BELOVED DOG

18 years made possible thanks to your generous support.

This year, we offer you three ways to support The Invisible Dog, a nomadic, New York City–based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
All donations are tax-deductible.

  • Make a donation. Support our artistic program with a contribution of any amount. The amount changes, but our gratitude never does.

  • Enjoy an experience at SAM. Support our artistic program by reserving a luncheon, a dinner, or a cooking class at la Salle à Manger, and enjoy a unique culinary experience. All the proceeds go to The Invisible Dog’s artistic program.

  • Acquire a work of art. Support our artistic program by bringing home a piece of art specially selected for this campaign, giving it a new life and a place in your story. All the proceeds go to The Invisible Dog’s artistic program.

Have a specific question, a special request, an idea for an exceptional gift, or would you like to designate your donation to a particular project? Please feel free to email Lucien Zayan. We would be delighted to hear from you.

Where is the fundraising video this year?

We haven’t made a fundraising movie. we werre 10,000 miles away from Mac Premo and Adrianna Dufay, who, meanwhile, were busy winning four more Emmy Awards!  But we found this little hidden gem somewhere in a computer …. Mac and Adrianna are still here, always!…

You can still enjoy the 14 Emmy’s Award videos we made together of the year. Watch them here

Make a donation, from $1 to $10,000. Every contribution matters, and every donor is part of The Invisible Dog’s story. Your name will appear on our list of donors, and your reward is the program we continue to build together, made possible by your generosity. Our gratitude is eternal.

BE A SUPPORTER - GIVE WHAT YOU WISH

Ramen Painting by Nanami Hayashi

$250
Tempera on wood 1.97 x 1.97 inches, 2026

30 pieces available, each one is unique
Free delivery in NYC, Shipping around the world w. fee

Nanami Hayashi has always been a slow eater, which has often left her being the only one left eating at the table. For some reason, this was always different with ramen, a dish she could eat at a normal pace.

Ramen has thus become a favorite dish of hers, allowing her to enjoy the communal act of eating again. To keep a memory of the many cherished meals, she started to make a tempera painting of every bowl of ramen she has eaten. By using this sacral technique from medieval Europe, she elevates the quotidien and fleeting nature of a simple dish to something majestic, immortalizing every bowl on a golden backdrop.

Hayashi started this series in 2022 and has since painted a collection of 950 pieces. It takes her about a month to finish one of them, the slow and precise brush strokes allowing her to remember and appreciate every single noodle and every little droplet of oil she had swallowed a little too hastily for her liking.

A site specific installation of 308 pieces was presented at NAFAS Tokyo.

The Dream by Katie Butler

$3,000.00
Oil on canvas, 50.8 x 40.6cm, 2026
Free delivery in NYC, Shipping around the world w. fee

I discovered Katie Butler’s work at Spring Break art fair If my memory serves. And fell in love immediatly for her talent. Butler uses still life to display contemporary issues of class and power in America. Skewed perspectives and exaggerated proportions display the impossible task of painting an image of the now. Thereby, Butler’s “The Dream” foregrounds the inconsistencies of our reality – leaking, falling off the table or drowning in a Martini glass as we still try to make sense of them. In 2022, Butler was part of NAFAS New York with a large painting describing the political mess in America. If you have attended SAM events, you surely know the piece.

This painting was presented at NAFAS Tokyo.

Ouro Boros by AaronRuff

$1200

Bracelet with spoon
Brass and silver, , 5.11 x 5.11 inches, 2026
Free delivery in NYC, Shipping around the world w. fee

As a young boy growing up in Maine, Aaron Ruff was fascinated with the idea of stumbling upon hidden treasures and unearthing ancient relics. Created in 2006, the “Digby & Iona” namesake stems from a trip to Nova Scotia, taken before the company had ever been established. Feeling a connection with the small province and wanting to maintain a level of anonymity, Ruff chose to name his company after the two quiet seaside towns in Nova Scotia

This piece of art was presented at NAFAS Tokyo.

Bread Repair: Deep Dish by Taichi Hayashi

$1200

Comes with a wooden box + turmeric dyed fabric
11.8 x 11.80 inches, 2026
Free delivery in NYC, Shipping around the world w. fee

Kintsugi is a Japanese technique used to repair broken vessels using lacquer or gold. Taichi Hayashi (Japan) instead uses bread, an edible and deteriorating material, thereby intentionally breaking with the premise of preservation.

The bread, usually plated to be eaten, has entered a symbiotic relationship with the glossy ceramic. Thereby, both the bread and the ceramic have come alive in their agreement to hold on to each other. What we're seeing then, is the joint reinforcement of two very fragile, broken and perishable matters.

By sticking together, plate and bread have escaped their usefulness to our human ends. Instead, the teeth of the shards are now forever biting into the slowly drying bread, while the voluptuous bread in turn seems to slowly swallow the ceramic. Along these less-than-perfect, fleeting joins between bread and ceramic, Hayashi seeks to reconsider repair as a "process of continuous renewal".

Taichi Hayashi lives in Japan, he was part of NAFAS Tokyo. He is 22.

Little monuments of the most ephemeral kind, beeswax candles comprise a whole ecosystem in a little flame.

Carving woods of Stalvig’s surrounding forests into taper forms, then casting them in local beeswax, every candle holds an inscription of a place. Stalvig invites people to join the ritual of candle making. Engaging in the tradition of travel, exchange and a commitment to craft, candle making becomes an activation of the connection between human as well as “more-than-human” peoples. Stalvig was part of NAFAS Tokyo

Ramen Hound by Misato Sano

$3200
Camphor wood, oil paint,
12.60 x 18.90 x 8.27 inches, 2026
Presented at NAFAS Tokyo
Free delivery in NYC, Shipping around the world w. fee

All of Misato Sano’s works are self-portrait sculptures. She is rendering herself at the given timing in the form of a dog. For her, using the form of dogs is the most appropriate, highest-resolution method to materialize what she thinks and her inner self. Materializing herself in various states is about having an honest, direct dialogue with herself. In facing herself, she would like to be passionate, free, and loving, like a dog. Her works are also about herself looking at herself. In that sense, she might have been making an existence that is sometimes beside herself, a little distant at other times, watching over herself.

Untitled by Kevin Waldron

$550
Collage on paper
8.66 x 11.81 inches, frame 15.75 x 15.75 inches, 2014
Free delivery in NYC, Shipping around the world w. fee

Kevin Waldron reminds us that looking at art is an exercise in humility. Before a work, we are not always meant to understand, interpret, or judge. Sometimes, we simply need to make ourselves small, to look closer, and to allow the quietest things to speak. Perhaps this is where wonder begins: when we accept that there is always more to see than we can know.

Kevin Waldron and Oliver Jeffers, both long time resident artists at The Invisible Dog, collaborated recently for a book published in July, A Day Off School.

Free delivery in NYC, Shipping around the world w. fee

During a trip to Brazil, I discovered Matheus Abu’s work. His pieces immediately brought me back to Marseille, to those endless summer days when children leap into the Mediterranean, bodies suspended for a brief moment between sky and sea, freedom and gravity. There is something universal in that gesture: the fearless abandon, the joy of the plunge, the promise of cool water against sun-warmed skin. Matheus’s work seems to hold that fleeting instant, when the body becomes pure movement and time momentarily stands still. Looking at his pieces, I can almost hear the laughter, the splash, the shouts echoing across the harbor. A little piece of the Mediterranean found, unexpectedly, on the other side of the Atlantic.

Articulated & Burnt by Nemo Hoffman

$1600
Steel, Bronze, Wood, 16 x 33 x 16 inches, 2019
Free delivery in NYC, Shipping around the world w. fee

Nemo Hoffman makes mobiles, a delicate art in which few dare to follow in the footsteps of Alexander Calder, the undisputed master. Yet Nemo has found his own way to make matter dance in space. In The Invisible Dog’s collection, two of his mobiles reign from the ceiling, suspended between gravity and grace. One watches over the dining table at La Salle à Manger, catching the light and setting it gently in motion. Above the table, as conversations unfold and plates are passed, it reminds us that even the smallest movement can transform the atmosphere of a room and that sometimes, art is not simply something we look at, but something that quietly accompanies us as we live.

For many years, Peter was a resident artist at The Invisible Dog. Then, one day, art led him back to the land, and he took over the family farm. Some of you may remember the Farm Market Dinner we hosted at SAM, where his two worlds met around the table. Over time, Peter became a gifted farmer, cultivating the land with the same care, patience, and imagination he brings to his art. Because some people are artists in everything they do, whether they are creating with their hands or growing from the earth.
