THIS EVENT HAS BEEN CANCELED DUE TO THE COVID-19 CRISIS

The 2020 Look + Listen Festival closing program highlights the core concept of the festival by bringing together three sets which look at ways that we see sound, and hear sight.

Pianist Tristan McKay debuts his 21 prints visualizing Tristan Perich’s Dual Synthesis for harpsichord and electronics alongside a performance of the work. Deeply committed to graphic score notation, Tristan’s prints are derived from the play-by-color system from Schoenhut toy pianos.

The Bang Group, the rhythm-based modern dance troupe, returns to the festival with a new set of experimental tap performances that use notated scores as a jumping off point for creating the choreography. They will perform the year’s Call For Collaboration winner in a world premiere interpretation of the composer’s score.

Finally, Paul Pinto will fuse voice, video, and movement in the world premiere of a solo set performed by himself.

About Look + Listen Festival
The Look + Listen Festival is an annual event dedicated to presenting contemporary music in contemporary art galleries. The Festival seeks to expand and engage audiences by providing a unique opportunity to simultaneously experience a stimulating visual environment for new music and a vibrant aural context for visual art. Both artists and audiences enjoy performances by musicians of the highest caliber, who present a range of new music in some of New York City’s finest art galleries. We are excited to promote and encourage the appreciation of new music created by contemporary voices of our time.
