The Invisible Dog (New York City) and BUoY Arts Center (Tokyo) are thrilled to present a performance by Wakita Kizuku with Kobayashi Kanon.

In this world premiere performance created for NAFAS Tokyo, Wakita Kizuku examines what becomes part of one's being—before, during, and after a meal—through the act of eating.
By rendering the meal itself absent while retaining only the actions associated with it, Wakita Kizuku seeks to foreground the subject's existence.
The underlying hypothesis is that, by isolating not the contents of the meal—the ingredients or the dishes—but the act of eating itself, the time spent eating may, in fact, belong to the person who is eating.
The performance consists of a single diner eating an empty meal and involves two performers. One takes on the role of a waiter serving a full-course meal—consisting only of empty plates. The other plays the role of a guest, performing each course as though eating a complete meal.
A table covered with a white tablecloth is set with two chairs facing one another. The performance lasts approximately 10mn and will be performed multiple times (see schedule below) Spectators are free to enter and leave at any time during the performance.
Wakita Kizuku was born in Yokohama, Kanagawa Prefecture, in 1999, graduated from Tama Art University, and working primarily under the theme of "the presence of the absent”.
His recent solo exhibitions and site-specific projects include "will be gone, but will not to be gone" at an abandoned house in Shimomaruko (2024), "neighbor" at a scheduled-for-demolition housing complex in Chiba (2024), “belation" at gallery TATSUMI (2023), and "あなたへ、" (To You) at New Space Pa (2022). Wakita won the Commendable Award at Narita Art Runway, which led to a special exhibition of his work “What are you carrying” at the Narita Airport. He also won the Special Prize at the Hokkaido Baseball Park Art Award in 2023, which led to a permanent exhibition of his work "Baseball Canvas" at F Village.
