Elizabeth Krief and Jacques Manardo Artist Residency Program: Marlo & Isaure

The Elizabeth Krief and Jacques Manardo Artist Residency Program at The Invisible Dog offers artists of all disciplines and nationalities the opportunity to reside in New York City for 1-3 months, without any obligation of a final production and objective, aside from engaging with our city of fantasy, change, excess, power, possibility, hustle, and grandeur.

Everyone finds their own way and the experiments are impossible to anticipate. New York changes all who visit; we’re anxiously waiting to see what resident artists see and discover. Artists will be housed in a furnished apartment in the heart of Brooklyn near The Invisible Dog Art Center and are encouraged to live in total immersion, connect with one of the most vibrant artist communities, meet professionals from the international art world, and participate in events in New York and abroad (Armory Show, Frieze, etc.).

The residency requires applicants to have presented work in their country of origin (USA included) or abroad, but having spent little to no time in New York City.

This 4-year-old program was made possible thanks to the exclusive support of Elizabeth Krief and Jacques Manardo.

We are pleased to announce that the fourth resident artist will be MARLO & ISAURE (Tunisia) from April 29 to May 23.

MARLO & ISAURE (M&I) is a contemporary objects and furniture brand. Founded in 2013 by designers Marlo Kara (Switzerland) and Isaure Bouyssonie (France).

M&I selects the best industrial and local craftsman and is surrounded by international designers to develop strong brand identity. A common thread is created between designers, manufacturers, and retailers in order to make each product a collaboration of know-how. M&I keeps a close eye on the quality of production and the final price.

The aim of the brand is to offer friendly products with strong personality; new and contemporary forms that meet functional and daily use.

Marlo Kara and Isaure Bouyssonie meet on the banks of the industrial design section of ECAL (Ecole Cantonale d’Art de Lausanne). Marlo is Swiss-Greek born in Geneva and Isaure is French, born in Tunisia. Together, they founded the design studio MARLO & ISAURE in 2013 and it became a design editor in 2015. The same year they decided to settle in Tunisia to be close to their manufacturers. Marlo and Isaure design and also produce their own line of furniture and home accessories for their eponymous brand. Exploration and optimization are the watchwords of the passionate duet.

Marlo & Isaure will be presenting their creations during The Invisible Dog’s Annual Open Studio on May 4 & 5.
