NAFAS Tokyo brings together 57 visual artists from Japan and around the world, working across painting, photography, sculpture, drawing, video and site-specific installation. Each work carries its own story, material, gesture and way of looking at food and the world around us.
In Arabic, nafas means “breath.” Collecting a work of art can be understood in the same way: giving it breath. The artwork leaves the exhibition, enters a new space, and continues its story with you.

アート作品を購入するということ。それは、アーティストへ、その揺るぎない個性へ、そして芸術という営みを未来へつなぐことへの信頼のあらわれです。
NAFAS Tokyoには、日本と世界各国から集った57名のアーティストが参加し、絵画、写真、彫刻、ドローイング、映像、サイトスペシフィック・インスタレーションと、多彩な表現で制作を行っています。ひとつひとつの作品が、それぞれの物語と素材、身振り、そして食や世界を見つめるまなざしを宿しています。
アラビア語で「ナファス（nafas）」は「息」を意味します。作品をコレクションするということも、いわば同じこと—対象に息を吹き込むということなのではないでしょうか。作品は展示スペースを離れ、新たな場所へと移り、持ち主とともにその物語を紡いでいきます。
NAFASの作品を一点、迎え入れることは、才能あるアーティストたちを直接支えると同時に、実験と発見、そして出会いの場をつくり続ける非営利のアート団体を後押しすることにもつながります。
作品との出会いが、もうひとつの息へと繋がり、そして次なる息吹が生まれる力となりますように。
