The Invisible Dog (New York City) and BUoY Arts Center (Tokyo) are thrilled to present a poetry reading by Haku Kato, as part of NAFAS TOKYO.

Haku Kato is a poet from Kanagawa Prefecture. Kato began working as a poet in August 2025 and published a first collection of poems, Tokyo White Night Flight (fourteen poems), in November of the same year.
Tokyo White Night Flight is a portrait of contemporary Tokyo, depicting beauty and emptiness, longing and dependence, the desire for transformation and the pain of a consumer society, and, beyond all this, a faint yearning for salvation. Living and questioning life within a city overflowing with stimulation, its words take on the quality of a prayer. The loss and solitude that run throughout the collection refuse to be easily filled by others, even in a city glutted with things; loss remains loss, solitude remains solitude, quietly and unassumingly abiding without forcing its wounds closed.
Kato works across a wide range of activities, and in 2026 founded and directs the cross-genre poetry journal Koo. Kato's honors include the Award of Excellence at the Japan Poetry and Verse Essay Criticism Association Awards (for "Na o kaesu"), along with numerous other prizes and selections in various competitions. Kato is also active in spoken-word performance, with work presented across a range of media including radio and large outdoor screens, and works as a visual artist under a separate name.

神奈川県出身の詩人。2025年8月に詩人としての活動を開始し、同年11月に初詩集「東京白夜飛行」（全14篇収録）を刊行した。
「東京白夜飛行」は、美しさと空虚さ、憧れと依存、変身願望と消費社会の痛み、そしてその先にあるかすかな救済への希求を描いた、現代東京の肖像である。刺激があふれる都市で生に問いかけながら生きていくその言葉は、祈りのようでもある。詩集全体を貫く喪失や孤独は、モノが過剰にあふれる都市のなかでも他者によって安易に埋め合わされることを拒み、喪失は喪失のまま、孤独は孤独のまま、飄々と佇み続ける。
活動の幅は広く、2026年には交錯詩誌「Koo」を主宰。日本詩歌句随筆評論協会賞優秀賞（「名を還す」）をはじめ、各種コンクールでの受賞・入選を重ねている。朗読活動にも取り組み、作品はラジオや屋外ビジョンなど多様なメディアで展開されている。また別名義で美術家としても活動している。
